OASIES
The Organization for the Advancement of Studies of Inner Eurasian Societies (OASIES) is a community of Columbia University graduate students and scholars from varied disciplines and area studies perspectives. OASIES ambition is to foster dialogue and partnership between the Harriman Institute and the East Asian, Middle Eastern, and South Asian institutes at Columbia. By doing so OASIES hopes to extend and deepen the scholarship on Central Asia already produced within the Harriman Institute. Toward this end the Organization hosts scholar discussions and student conferences which attempt to interrogate or transcend current scholarship boundaries within Inner Eurasia. OASIES assists in coordinating student interests, building networks of scholarship, and informing the community of upcoming events and programs of interest.
